Females outperform Males in Academic IELTS once again

Last year's statistical data from the IELTS organisation reveals that female candidates outperformed their male counterparts globally. The mean Overall Band Score achieved by females on the Academic IELTS examination during 2008 was 5.89, with males attainining only 5.71 by comparison.

These figures closely match those from 2007, when males scored 5.74 to females 5.94 average.

The Listening module again yielded the highest mean scores for both genders in 2008 (6.01 female, 5.83 male), with the Writing test proving once more to be the most difficult (5.53 female, 5.37 male.)
